Uzbekistan took a surprise lead in the 10th minute when captain Eldor Shomurodov lobbed DR Congo goalkeeper Mpasi after a defensive mix-up. DR Congo fought back in the second half as Yoane Wissa coolly converted a penalty in the 68th minute after Khusanov fouled in the box. Fiston Mayele completed the comeback in the 78th minute with a poacher's finish after Meschack Elia's shot was deflected. Wissa sealed the win in the 90+1st minute with a curling strike from range. DR Congo advance to the Round of 32 for the first time in their history and will face England.
